New Lakers are brewing. After two campaigns in which defense was the cornerstone of the project, now it’s time to turn the attack 180 degrees; something that is not a surprise either, since last year they were the 24th worst team in the NBA in this regard.
According to LeBron James, the starting point of this change is in the arrival of many players to the team, some of them being as important in the rotation as Russell Westbrook. The presence of the MVP of 2017, as well as that of other boys with different characteristics than those before, has pushed it.
“We practically have a completely new offensive system this year, and one that we have been working on in our training sessions since training camp started. This is an important adjustment in the offensive field, since we have other guys in many positions and places on the court; it gives us a new look that we are working on, “he told the media after the loss to Golden State.
Such an important change will not be easy. LeBron knows that it is possible that at first the results of the work are not palpable, but in the same way he is clear that it is the right path.
“It will be a process for us, but I think it will be the best in the long term. We want to keep the ball moving from side to side. There will not be much dribbling and we will rely more on the pass. And obviously we also have guys who can attack the rim like Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn, Talen Horton-Tucker or myself, “he said.
