The Orlando Magic have agreed to extend Wendell Carter Jr.’s contract for four seasons and a total of $ 50 million. As reported by journalist Shams Charania, the agreement will be fully guaranteed.
Carter, 22, was selected by the Chicago Bulls in seventh position in the 2018 draft. Despite showing glimpses of his potential during his two and a half seasons in Illinois, the center he was unable to complete the desired course due to injuries, among other things.
The player would be traded to the Orlando Magic before the 2021 deadline in the operation that sent Nikola Vucevic to Chicago. In the final stretch of the course, he established himself as the starting center for the Florida team, averaging 11.7 points and 8.8 rebounds in a total of 22 games.
During the offseason there were doubts about the franchise’s long-term commitment to the player. Finally, the franchise has responded to this question with an agreement very similar to those signed last year by Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz.
