The Milwaukee Bucks have made the return of Wesley Matthews official until the end of this season and for the minimum salary for a player of his experience, the Wisconsin franchise reported.
After a year wearing the colors of the Lakers, Matthews returns to the Bucks with the aim of reinforcing the second unit and trying to repeat the NBA champion title. The last time he played in Milwaukee he averaged 7.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 24.4 minutes per game.
“Wesley (Matthews) is a proven veteran whose shooting, defense and experience will help us a lot,” said manager Jon Horst. “You are familiar with the Budenholzer system and with our equipment. We are excited to have him back with us, “he added.
Matthews, 35, has managed to carve an important niche in the NBA after falling out of the positions of access to the 2009 Draft. His first team was the Utah Jazz to later play in Portland, Dallas, briefly in New York, Indiana, Milwaukee and the Lakers.
In 849 official games (739 as a starter), he has averaged 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1 steal with 38% in triples.
