Several additional counties across the state have announced that schools would close on Monday following the winter storm.
Cabell County, Jackson County, Kanawha County, Logan County, Mingo County, Nicholas County and Wayne County have all announced that schools will be closed on Monday, according to the West Virginia Department of Education.
Additionally, several government buildings and transit systems announced that they would close or delay opening including the Kanawha County Courthouse and Judicial Annex, the Lincoln County Courthouse, as well as St. Albans City Hall and city offices.

Several counties have announced school closures for Monday amid the winter storm that has brought snow and ice to the region Sunday.
In West Virginia, Boone, Braxton, Calhoun, Fayette and Putnam counties have all announced that schools will be closed on Monday, while Clay, Lincoln and Mingo counties will resume through non-traditional online school, according to the West Virginia Department of Education.
West Virginia Junior College in Charleston also announced that the school would be closed Monday.
The winter storm is expected to continue through Tuesday, bringing snow, ice and freezing rain to the region making driving conditions hazardous.
