Western media continues to talk about the features of the terms of the temporary truce in Gaza And the release of prisoners held by the Islamic Resistance Movement (agitation), in the negotiations mediated by Qatar and Egypt.
A source familiar with the talks confirmed to the German News Agency that the potential agreement includes the release of 50 women and children held by Hamas.
The agreement would lead to a cessation of fighting for a period ranging between 3 and 5 days, and an increase in humanitarian aid received by Gaza, as well as the release of a number of Palestinian female detainees and children detained in Israeli prisons.
The source stated that Hamas agreed in principle to these points.
For his part, an Egyptian security source said that the agreement includes the release of 50 women and children held by Hamas, in exchange for the release of 75 women and children detained by Israel.
The sources indicated that the aid passing through the Rafah crossing will increase to 200 trucks per day, and fuel will be brought in on a daily basis.
Efforts to reach a ceasefire and secure the release of prisoners have been continuing for weeks, while Qatar and Egypt act as mediators between Hamas, Israel, and the United States.
Israeli confirmation
In the same context, Israeli Channel 13 quoted an Israeli official as saying that Tel Aviv is trying to conclude a humanitarian deal, and this means releasing the children with their mothers, as he put it.
For its part, CBS News quoted sources it described as “informed” that Israel is considering a proposal under which Hamas would release a number of women and children in exchange for a ceasefire lasting between 3 and 5 days during which aid would enter Gaza.
Reuters quoted an official it described as familiar with the ongoing negotiations that Qatari mediators were trying, yesterday, Wednesday, to reach an agreement between Hamas and Israel that includes the release of about 50 detainees in the Gaza Strip, in exchange for a three-day ceasefire.
The official said that the agreement, which is being discussed in coordination with the United States, will also see Israel release some Palestinian women and children from its prisons and increase the amounts of humanitarian aid it allows to enter Gaza.
Israel categorically rejects demands for a ceasefire, claiming that a longer ceasefire will give Hamas the opportunity to regroup and prepare for more attacks.
