Experts advise taking into account some important points when choosing the right perfume, most notably knowing the perfume families and their degree of stability.
The German Consumer Protection Initiative explained that perfumes can be divided into families, for example, there are floral, oriental, woody, fruity, or spicy scents, noting that knowing these families gives one an initial orientation towards the appropriate perfume.
The initiative added that the perfume should be smelled again 10 minutes after the first time, explaining that the perfume consists of 3 layers: the top layer, the core layer, and the base layer.
The top layer of the perfume is responsible for the first impression, while the base layer represents the soul of the perfume and gives it its distinctive character.
As for the degree of perfume stability, the duration of stability is related to the content of perfumes and aromatic oils. The higher the content of perfumes and aromatic oils, the longer the duration of the perfume stability.
Eau Fraiche has the lowest fragrance content, only 1 to 3%, so it evaporates quickly. Eau de Cologne has slightly more scents, but is still one of the least concentrated perfumes.
The longest lasting are “Eau de Toilette”, “Eau de Parfum” and “Parfum”, in ascending order, knowing that perfume contains up to 30% aromatic oils that ensure an intense scent that lasts for hours.
