What are your New Year’s resolutions?

A few days before the start new Year It is time to reflect on what we expect for him 2023. It is essential to set goals in the best way to help ourselves achieve them.

Juan Luis Ordaz, director of Citibanamex Financial Education, gives us some advice that will help you establish and fulfill your resolutions in this new year:

1. Determine your goals. Define if they are short, medium or long term. Being clear about the time it will take you to achieve a goal will help you establish the steps to achieve it.
2. Express your goals positively. Avoid saying “I’m not going to spend anymore or I’m not going to eat anymore”. Try saying “I am going to save 20 pesos a week or I am going to lose 3 kilos in 1 month”.
3. Write your goal and put it in a place where you will see it constantly. Whether it’s in your mirror, in the bathroom, your notebook or the refrigerator, etc.
4. Does your goal require a financial outlay? Keep in mind the amount involved and make a plan to cover it; make a budget.
5. Includes the saving as a fixed category within your budget. Determine a monthly, fortnightly, weekly amount or whatever best suits you and commit to carrying it out within the established period.
6. Keep it real, even if it involves a challenge, if your goal is very ambitious, do not be discouraged. Establish the steps to follow and be very organized in carrying them out.
7. Identify a your allies. Your friends and family will be there to support you, be it economically, emotionally or even with their knowledge. Share the path to the fulfillment of your goal!
8. Constantly check what percentage of your goal have you achieved, having a punctual follow-up will help you meet them in the established time. If you need to make adjustments, do not hesitate to make the necessary changes.

“The beginning of a new year represents new opportunities. Start off in the best way with well-planned goals and don’t give up until you achieve them. Without a doubt, once they are achieved, you will feel the enormous satisfaction of having fulfilled yourself”, concluded Ordaz.
