A new survey entitled “Attracting and Retaining Talents in the MENA Region” revealed the most important job features that attract professionals in Saudi Arabia and the extent to which companies succeed in maintaining the best talent in the long term.
What attracts employees to apply for jobs
The results of the questionnaire indicate that 54% of respondents in Saudi Arabia believe that the factors that attract them most to work in a company are the work environment, followed by salaries and compensation provided by the company (53%), and long-term job security (45%).
As for the prevailing work ethic in the company, good practices and values emerged (65%) as the most influential on job selection, followed by the company’s friendly culture (54%), and the company’s social responsibility (53%) came in third.
As for the job benefits available in a company, career development opportunities (63%) emerged as the most influential in choosing a job, followed by quality of work (58%), work atmosphere, training and support opportunities (57%).
As for their opinion on the factors that affect employee loyalty to any company, the feeling of security about the job (44%) emerged as the most important one, in addition to opportunities for training and advancement at work (35%) and then the opportunity for long-term career advancement (29%).
The role of companies in attracting employees
The questionnaire also focused on the important role that companies and employers play in attracting and retaining talent. It was revealed that 51% of the respondents think that accessing information related to company culture is very easy or of some kind.
As for companies marketing themselves to attract talent to work for them, respondents mentioned that social media sites are the best way to market (36%), followed by websites targeting job seekers (20%) and emails (14%).
54% of respondents believe that companies are doing a good job marketing their work culture and encouraging job seekers to apply for their vacancies.
The attitude of employees to their current jobs
In the beginning, professionals were asked about the reasons that led them to choose their current jobs, the most prominent of which was that it was a better job opportunity (46%), or that they had found this opportunity and applied for it (33%), and the better compensation and the name and reputation of the company came in third place (26%).
As for the opinions of employees at the current company, the questionnaire asked questions such as whether the company regularly listens to the opinions of employees to understand them, and 61% of respondents in Saudi Arabia said they agree with that. When asked if their companies are making conscious efforts to create adequate opportunities to retain the best talent, 55% stated that they either strongly agree or somewhat agree.
When asked about the possibility of their advice or encouraging others to apply for work in their current companies, 48% of respondents in Saudi Arabia said that this is very likely or somewhat probable.
While 40% of the respondents stated that it is very likely that they would change their jobs within the next 6 months, and when they were asked about the reasons, the opportunity for career development was weak (54%), followed by the financial compensation that does not conform to market standards (50%), in addition to dissatisfaction with Rewards offered by their companies (45%).
