She married Sandra Barber in 1985 with a dress she designed herself, and kept in her closet, where she said: “It was very sad to get rid of it, but I did not benefit from it, and my daughters did not want it either.. I thought about recycling my dress for two years, so I designed a dress for my daughter, using a skirt I also used some lace detailing and eyelets to fix some of the jeans of a co-worker.”

Sharon Young has been recycling clothes for decades, so when she planned to design her wedding dress eight years ago, she thought about recycling her first wedding dress, which was in 1974. I made it for my daughter’s wedding. After her marriage failed, she gave me the dress back so I could do whatever I wanted.”

Bidisha Barman has re-worn her red wedding dress several times since her wedding in 2015, pairing it with different blouses to change up his look. “I grew up watching my mother and grandmothers make curtains out of sari or pots of barrels,” she said.
