Alexei Zaprodin writes, in Izvestia, about the possibility of magic turning against the magician after the failed second impeachment attempt on Trump.
On February 13, 2021, Donald became the first US president in history to be impeached twice by the House of Representatives, and the first president to be acquitted by the Senate several times.
Immediately after the vote, Trump issued a statement describing what was happening as a “witch hunt” and complained that no president had ever experienced such a thing.
Both parties now face the task of overcoming internal divisions. Meanwhile, seven Republicans who joined Democrats in the vote against Trump have become ostracized because they have broken party discipline.
However, as Valery Garbuzov, head of the Institute of USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained to Izvestia, if a Republican – even Donald Trump himself – decides to create a new party, it will not lead to anything good. According to him, examples of partisan division previously occurred in American history, but ended with the victory of the force that managed to maintain unity. In addition, Donald Trump has announced that he will help Republicans regain control of Congress in the 2022 mid-term elections.
It is clear that political processes such as the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump have had a backlash. On this, the experts interviewed by Izvestia agree. This, of course, does not mean that the Republicans will impeach Democratic President Joe Biden. But Badin should certainly not expect close cooperation with them. Although the master of the White House has more than enough initiatives, on some issues he cannot dispense with the support of the opposition party. And he seems to understand that. Because of this, try to move away from accountability. Another thing is that his party members thought more about punishing Donald Trump than they thought about helping the new American leader in the early days of his presidency.
