The White House announced that President Joe Biden’s administration policies toward Russia will differ from those of former President Donald Trump’s administration, and that its steps will be clearly defined.
White House spokeswoman Jane Psaki said during a press conference on Wednesday in response to a request for comment on Moscow’s recall of its ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, for a consultation, that the White House has been aware of the news.
“Our administration will take a different attitude towards relations with Russia compared to the previous administration. Our policies will be clear and we will take clear-cut steps in areas where there are issues of concern to us,” she said.

She added that Biden believes that there is potential for cooperation between Washington and Moscow on issues of mutual interest, but he will not refrain from touching on sensitive topics in relations with Russia.
Psaki cited the extension of the Treaty on the Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms as an example of cooperation between the United States and Russia.
She indicated that Washington continues to review its policies towards Moscow in the areas “that still raise its concern,” and stressed that the US administration will soon announce new sanctions against Russia.
This comes after US intelligence accused Russia of interfering in the US presidential elections, and Biden said that the Russian leadership would “pay the price” for that, threatening sanctions.
