Al-Ma`aytah confirmed in press statements that the ships that were stuck in the Suez Canal do not carry goods and foodstuffs, which will not affect the commodity prices.
He pointed out that some of the crisis merchants might take advantage of the Suez Canal incident to raise prices, although there is no justification for that. He said, “We do not have many ships heading from the Suez Canal to the port of Aqaba.”
Regarding the possibility of diverting the ships’ route to Syria, he replied: “The ship’s owner is the one who decides to divert the ship’s route to Syria.”
The Jordanian Minister of Agriculture announced yesterday, Saturday, that he is studying alternatives to the Suez Canal for the introduction of 7 ships loaded with sheep into the Kingdom within a maximum of two days, against the background of the bottleneck in the navigation movement in the canal after a ship stranding, pointing out that bringing the cargo of ships through Syria is one of the options that the ministry is studying .
