(CNN) — Actor Jamie Foxx was hospitalized several weeks ago but still not much is known publicly about his condition.
Now, for anyone who has followed Jamie Foxx’s career closely, this comes as no surprise.
In April, Foxx was taken by emergency vehicle to a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he had been filming the Netflix movie “Back in Action.”
CNN has contacted Foxx’s representatives multiple times for information on what happened and the actor’s condition, but has been unable to obtain additional details.
Virtually no additional information has been released beyond the initial privacy request made by his family, and a post last week on Foxx’s verified social media account.
“I appreciate all the love!!!” the message read. “I feel blessed”.
This desire for privacy aligns with how the “Ray” star has lived, despite a career that puts him in the spotlight.
A review of the interviews Foxx has given over the years provides plenty of information about what he thinks of his roles, plenty of jokes, some insight into his childhood, and very little information about his personal life.
Foxx is said to have dated fellow superstar Katie Holmes, the ex-wife of Tom Cruise, for six years, a relationship neither of them ever officially confirmed, despite being photographed over the years for what seemed like romantic dates or moments in which they were affectionate with each other.
In 2016, former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member Claudia Jordan seemed to confirm that Foxx and Holmes were dating during a podcast appearance, saying, “He’s very happy with her. I like that he looks very happy.”
Jordan later clarified his comments, telling “Entertainment Tonight” that he “got it wrong.”
“I’m not aware of Jamie with Katie at all,” she said. “I’ve never seen them together.”
Two years later, in a interview Foxx with SportsCenter host Michael Smith about his involvement in a celebrity NBA basketball game, Smith asked the star: “Did you and Katie Holmes play basketball for Valentine’s? Like a real Love & basketball?”
Foxx abruptly ended the interview by removing his headphones and walking away.
Foxx and Holmes reportedly split in 2019.
So the silence around Foxx’s “medical complication,” to use his family’s opening words, seems to fit how the actor shares himself.
Celebrities have handled such situations in a variety of ways, from Jeremy Renner’s highly public recovery from a snowplow accident to Chadwick Boseman’s colon cancer diagnosis, which was not made public until after the death of the actor. “Black Panther” actor.
Those who know Foxx have been reserved when it comes to discussing his current condition.
During an interview on the “Impaulsive” podcast posted last week, Kevin Hart said he was “lucky” to be close enough to Foxx to know how he’s doing.
Hart said Foxx is “on the mend” and also touched on why not much has been shared about his status publicly from the inner circle.
“They’re being tight-lipped for the right reasons, because Jamie has always been a private person to some degree,” Hart said.
The Fox network announced that Nick Cannon will guest host “Beat Shazam,” a musical game show that Foxx hosts with his daughter, Corinne.
