The relentless siege of the Government of the Republic against the INE is similar to the siege established by the Roman Lucio Flavio Silva at Masada, a stronghold of the Jewish resistance led by Eleazar Ben Yair in the year 74 of our era.
1948 years ago it took seven months for the mighty Roman machine to take over Masada. It is difficult to know today if the regime will defeat the INE entrenched in an institutional fortress that, like Masada, until today we believed impregnable.
Masada fell and the Diaspora soon followed. If the INE falls, the Nation will lose the institution that, with all its imperfections, guarantees us clean elections and the popular right to elect our authorities. Nothing more, but nothing less.
I said, budgetary seam creaks
Every day it is more evident that the budget seams have begun to creak after three years of pressure to finance all the programs and projects of the López Obrador government.
For this reason, in addition to the political control that it implies, the National Palace proposes that the States contribute half the cost of the current social programs of the federal administration.
Or, despite federal generosity, the CDMX government, for the first time in 52 years, did not pay the Metro’s payroll on time, proof of the depletion of assets, the savings of 20 years, spent on remedying the ills. The future reaches them.
The omens of the June elections
In 2016, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares began his campaign as a candidate for governor of Veracruz and prepared a rich narrative against the Government of Enrique Peña Nieto, until someone spoke with him.
They reminded him that, although Peña Nieto has already diminished, surely Yunes would not want to have him as an enemy in his first two years in office. Yunes thought about it and shelved the ridiculous campaign narrative.
If someone who did not yet have power acted that way, how will the six outgoing governors act, knowing that, if they bother the Palace, they could be investigated, instead of invited to the foreign service? Let science answer!
SWIRLING NOTES
In 2022, two women will be on trial, not because they are, but because of the exceptional importance of their positions. Victoria Rodríguez at Banco de México and Graciela Márquez Colín at INEGI will be able to demonstrate that institutional loyalty is not at odds with faithful compliance with the law in their respective responsibilities … Someone from the ruling party tries to convince PAN deputy Santiago Creel that he could be the ideal presidential candidate for your party. The question would be: ideal for whom? … In three weeks the sections of the CNTE of the Republic will meet in CDMX to discuss how to build a bridge for dialogue with the National Palace. The eventual treatment, they say, will depend on the tone to question the authority … Congress has ignored the recommendation of the Supreme Court of Justice to legislate on conscientious objection in the matter of abortion … A Happy New Year 2022 to all, a rebirth of hopes, individual and collective. Let us ignore those who bet that it will be a deja vu …
