(Trends Wide) — As a powerful coast-to-coast storm impacts much of the western and northern United States, more than 300 flights were canceled Tuesday and more than 500 flights have been canceled for Wednesday. Among them, more than 100 depart from Minneapolis and more than 100 depart from Denver.
Minneapolis has seen up to 3 inches of snow and is expecting its heaviest three-day snowfall in more than 30 years. Denver is expected to see up to 12 inches of snow. Both cities will also see strong gusts of wind of up to 72 km/h.
With high winds and heavy snow in the West and Upper Midwest, flight delays and cancellations are expected to increase through this Thursday.
Locations throughout California have also experienced strong gusts of wind that caused power outages.
In total, there are more than 170,000 customers without power, the majority of which are in the San Francisco Bay Area. This area has reported wind gusts of up to 112 km/h and strong winds will continue through this Wednesday morning.
