On average, more than 3 million cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) were recorded per day worldwide between January 13 and 19, while US centers warned against traveling to 22 countries.

According to the Agence France-Presse census, an average of 3 million and 95 thousand and 971 daily injuries were recorded in the world in the last seven days, an increase of 17% compared to the previous week.

The spread of the highly contagious mutant Omicron has accelerated the spread of the epidemic in recent weeks. The current numbers are 440 percent greater than the number of 569,000 daily infections that were recorded between November 18 and 24, 2021, when Omicron was discovered in South Africa and Botswana.

The current numbers are much higher than those recorded in previous epidemic waves in the world.

Before the emergence of Omicron, the average record daily injury toll was 816,840 between April 23 and 29, 2021.

The regions that are currently experiencing the highest increase in the number of injuries are: Asia (with an average of 385,472 daily injuries in the last seven days, an increase of 68% compared to the previous week), the Middle East (89,900 daily injuries, an increase of 57%) and the Americas region Latin and the Caribbean (397,98 daily injuries, an increase of 40%).

The number of deaths in the world is also currently recording an increase (an average of 7,522 daily deaths in the last seven days, an increase of 11% compared to last week), and this number is for the first time higher than the number of deaths recorded in late November in the period in which the Omicron mutant was discovered ( 7,343 daily deaths between November 18 and 24).

American warnings

Yesterday, Wednesday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised to avoid travel to 22 countries and regions, including Israel, Australia, Egypt, Albania, Argentina and Uruguay, due to the high incidence of “Covid-19” in them.

The Centers raised its travel warning to “level four: very high,” and told Americans that they should avoid traveling to those countries that also include Panama, Qatar, the Bahamas, Bahrain, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Suriname, Saint Lucia and Bolivia.

In total, the US centers now list just over 100 countries and territories at Level 4, and 20 other countries have been upgraded to “Tier 3: High,” including: Uganda, Kuwait, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Cuba.

The CDC recommends that Americans who have not been vaccinated avoid non-essential travel to these destinations.
