The Egyptian national team tied 2-2 with Cape Verde in the second group competitions of the African Cup of Nations, qualifying – with difficulty – to the eighth final as second in the group, taking advantage of Ghana’s draw with the same score with Mozambique.
The Egyptian national team raised its score to 3 points in second place from 3 draws, behind Cape Verde, which previously secured qualification as group leader with 7 points.
Ghana ranks third with two points, on goal difference behind Mozambique.
Cape Verde scored the lead goal in the first minute of stoppage time, from the first opportunity it had through Gelson Tavares with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area.
Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet) equalized for Egypt in the 47th minute. Mustafa Mohamed added the second goal in the third minute of stoppage time with a ball he sent over the Cape Verdean goalkeeper ahead of his goal.
Brian Teixeira scored the equalizer for Cape Verde in the ninth minute of stoppage time, after he dribbled past goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy and shot from close range into the net.
