Meetings are expected to start in Algiers between Algerian officials and delegations representing Palestinian factions, led by Hamas and Fatah, to discuss the file of national reconciliation.
The head of Hamas’ political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, received an invitation from the Algerian ambassador in Qatar to visit a delegation from the movement’s leadership in Algeria, to discuss ways to make the Palestinian national dialogue successful, which was announced earlier by Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun.
The movement said that Haniyeh welcomed the invitation, and formed a delegation that included two members of its political bureau, Khalil al-Hayya and Hussam Badran.
Yesterday, Saturday, a delegation from the Fatah movement arrived in Algeria in response to the invitation of the Algerian president.
The official Palestinian News Agency quoted Palestine’s ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Abu Attia, as saying that the Fatah movement’s delegation is headed by Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of the Executive Committees of the Liberation Organization and the Central Committee of Fatah.
Abu Attia added that the Fatah delegation will hold its first meeting with Algerian officials, to discuss ways to make the national dialogue succeed and complete the Palestinian reconciliation.
In addition to the Hamas and Fatah movements, the Algerian presidency sent invitations to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Popular Front-General Command, according to the Palestinian News Agency.
