Joel Ayayi will be a Wizards player, as Shams Charania, a journalist from The Athletic. After being recently cut by the Lakers, the capitalists have claimed their contract from the list of waivers, a mechanism that allows franchises to acquire players who have been fired with the same conditions as they had in their previous team. In this way, the point guard arrives in Washington under a dual contract like the one he had in Los Angeles, so it will be divided between Wes Unseld and the Capital City Go-Go of the G League.
Despite not being chosen in this year’s draft, Ayayi’s physical condition attracted attention in the league, prompting the Lakers to seize his services and give him plenty of minutes in the Summer League in Las Vegas. However, his performance in preseason games has not ended up being entirely positive, which has made the Californians dispense with his services when they have had to decide which players made the final cut.
With this addition, the Wizards leave their roster closed, with their 15 permanent members and their two dual contracts. We will see if Ayayi finally ends up having a prominent presence in her or if this season helps her to get a good start in the development league and try to win an NBA contract next year.
