In a remarkable professional debut, Lottie Woad fired a second-round 65 to seize a two-shot lead at the Women’s Scottish Open.
The 21-year-old Englishwoman sits at 12-under par, holding the advantage over her playing partner, world number one Nelly Korda, and Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen, who are tied for second.
Starting on the 10th tee at Dundonald Links, Woad carded seven birdies, including a run of four in seven holes on her back nine. Her performance has been defined by exceptional consistency, with just a single bogey recorded across the first 36 holes.
Woad’s decision to turn professional came just last week. The move was prompted by her standout performance as an amateur at the Evian Championship, where the former world number one amateur finished one shot outside of a play-off, narrowly missing out on £400,000 in prize money.
Elsewhere in the field, Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh staged a superb comeback, shooting a 67 to make the cut after a disappointing opening-round 78. England’s Georgia Hall remains in the hunt at four-under for the tournament.
