The anticipated Woolworths Carols in the Domain will be go ahead without an audience due to the rising COVID-19 cases in Sydney.
For the first time since 1983, the exciting family event which was due to be held at Sydney’s Domain at the Aware Super Theatre on December 18 and 19 will go ahead without an audience and instead broadcast on Channel 7.
The decision comes after the Northern Beaches COVID-19 cluster soared to 28 on Friday and is expected to rise on Saturday.

‘It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have made the decision to close off access to the public for the performance of Woolworths Carols in the Domain,’ the organisation wrote on Facebook.
‘The show will go ahead and will be broadcast on Channel 7 and 7plus on Wednesday, 23 December from 7.30pm for everyone’s enjoyment.
‘While we understand this will be frustrating for many members of the public, we felt that this was the right decision to make in the interests of public health and safety.
‘All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.’

Last month, Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced further easing of restrictions for December 1.
‘My colleagues and I, in conjunction with the health experts, were able to go a bit further than what we anticipated. So it’s fantastic news,’ Ms Berejiklian said on November 25.
‘If you are hosting an event at your home, you can have up to 50 people, so long as you utilise an outdoor space,’ Ms Berejiklian said.
‘If you do not have an outdoor space, we do not recommend any more than 30 people inside the home.’
On Friday Ms Berejiklian did warn the next three days are crucial to tackle the Northern Beaches cluster and to manage it.
Residents in the area have been asked to stay inside where possible and are urged to get tested.
