A horrified Woolworths shopper has discovered a slug in a bag of frozen vegetables she was about to feed her baby.
Newcastle mum Ash Butler, posted four pictures of the slug found in the frozen cauliflower on the Woolworths Facebook page and called out the company’s ‘quality control’.
‘A slug was hidden among frozen vegetables (cauliflower) that was being fed to my eight month old son,’ she wrote online.

The photos showed the mum holding up the cauliflower to the camera, with the brown slug stuck inside.
Ms Butler contacted Woolworths customer care centre and was offered a $20 Woolworths gift card for her unfortunate finding.
‘I don’t think the response to date has at all been sufficient given the severity of the risk that was posed to my son’, Ms Butler told Daily Mail Australia.

The mother says that the health of her eight-month-old baby is the main concern, as her child was ‘put at risk because of their [Woolworth’s] poor quality control measures’.
‘Consuming slugs can cause meningitis and brain damage amongst other serious illnesses and yet Woolworths shrugged it off because nothing seemed to have happened as of yet,’ Ms Butler wrote on Facebook.
‘I will now spend the night closely observing my baby for signs of illness’.
Ms Butler told the Daily Mail Australia that her baby is currently doing well.
‘My son is irritable but it’s likely due to teething’.

A Woolworths spokesperson told the Daily Mail Australia that they are taking the incident very seriously and are launching an investigation.
‘At Woolworths, we take food safety and quality very seriously.’
‘We’re aware of the customer’s report and are following the matter up with our frozen vegetable supply partner.’
‘They have a robust quality system in place to ensure the integrity of the product, so we’re keen to understand how this could have happened.’
‘This appears to be an isolated incident, as we’re unaware of any further reports of a similar nature about frozen vegetable products at this time.’
‘We’ve apologised to the customer for their experience and offered a voucher and refund.’
