And this specialized organization of the United Nations stated in a report published Thursday that there is still no evidence that “direct weather effects on the virus contribute significantly to affecting the level of transmission in real conditions in the world.”
The report said that the fact that respiratory diseases are often seasonal, especially in temperate climates, “strengthened expectations that Covid-19 will be largely seasonal.” However, as it turned out in 2020, the dynamics of disease spread depended more on government measures than on weather factors.
International experts also concluded that there is currently no direct evidence confirming the impact of air pollution on the ability of the emerging coronavirus to survive.
The World Meteorological Organization believes that the high temperature in the northern hemisphere in the spring should not be a reason to weaken government measures to combat the Corona virus.
“We saw in the first year of the epidemic that waves of infection increase during warmer seasons, and there is no indication that this will not happen again this year,” said Ben Zetschek, co-chair of the group of experts who contributed to the preparation of this report.
