Xavi Hernandez, coach of the Spanish football team Barcelona, expressed his willingness to waive the money owed to him during the final year of his contract if club president Joan Laporta dismisses him this summer.
There are doubts about Xavi continuing to lead Barcelona’s technical leadership after losing the Spanish Super Cup to Real Madrid a few days ago.
The Blaugrana suffered a major defeat 4-1 in the Super Cup at the weekend, against Real Madrid, making Xavi Hernandez’s task more complicated and increasing uncertainty about his future at the helm of the team.
Barcelona currently ranks fourth in the Spanish League, and is still licking its wounds after suffering its worst defeat against Los Blancos in years.
The Spanish newspaper AS reported that Xavi is still convinced of his ability to change things as Barcelona continues to compete in the Spanish League and the Champions League.
The 43-year-old former star refuses to give up, but he knows that he will be abandoned at the end of the season if things continue as they are at Camp Nou.

Kind gesture
While many fans are angry with Xavi due to the team’s current performance, he may leave an appreciated impression in the end as he has no intention of creating a problem for the debt-ridden club if it wants to remove him from his position by giving up the remaining salary on his contract.
The newspaper “AS” confirmed that Xavi does not want to harm Barcelona if he leaves, by avoiding causing him financial damages and obliging him to pay his remaining dues.
He receives $4.24 million (3.9 million euros) annually.
Xavi took over as coach of Barcelona in November 2021, succeeding his colleague, club legend Ronald Koeman, and his contract extends until June 2025.
Xavi led Barcelona in 119 matches, during which he won 74 matches, while losing 24 and drawing 21 others.
In terms of titles, Barcelona won the La Liga and Spanish Super Cup titles last year under Xavi.
