Xbox has announced a major overhaul of its Game Pass subscription service, introducing a revamped three-tier structure designed to offer greater flexibility and value to players. The new plans—Essential, Premium, and Ultimate—replace the previous offerings, with changes taking effect today.
Existing Game Pass Core subscribers will automatically transition to the new Essential plan, while Standard subscribers will move to Premium. Ultimate members will remain on the Ultimate plan, which receives the most significant upgrades.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: A Major Expansion
The top-tier Ultimate plan has been significantly enhanced, now including subscriptions to Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics at no extra cost. Starting November 18, members will gain access to Fortnite Crew, which includes the Battle Pass and 1,000 V-Bucks monthly. The addition of Ubisoft+ Classics grants access to a curated library of titles such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Ultimate subscribers will also receive over 75 day-one releases annually, including upcoming titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and The Outer Worlds 2. The plan continues to offer a library of over 400 games, EA Play access, and an upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming experience that is officially out of beta, featuring enhanced streaming quality up to 1440p. The Rewards with Xbox program has also been improved, allowing Ultimate members to earn up to $100 in store credit per year by playing games. Following these upgrades, the price for the Ultimate plan has been adjusted to $29.99 per month.
Xbox Game Pass Premium: More Games and Platforms
The new Premium tier, priced at $14.99 per month, expands upon the former Standard plan by adding PC game access and unlimited cloud gaming. The library has grown to over 200 titles, including popular games like Diablo IV and Hogwarts Legacy, which are available starting today. Premium members will also get access to new Xbox-published titles within one year of their launch, excluding Call of Duty releases. The plan includes in-game benefits for games like League of Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone, and the Rewards program allows members to earn up to $50 in store credit annually.
Xbox Game Pass Essential: A New Starting Point
Priced at $9.99 per month, the Essential plan replaces Game Pass Core as the entry-level option. It provides a curated catalog of over 50 games playable on both console and PC, including titles like Hades and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. This tier now includes unlimited cloud gaming, online multiplayer, and various in-game benefits. Essential members can also earn up to $25 in store credit per year through the Rewards program.
