A young woman has revealed how she made $20,000 in one month after launching a business selling exfoliating gloves that transform skin in just minutes.
Entrepreneur Xixi Liu, from Sydney, created Cheeky Glo with just $1,500 after she saw an opening in the market amid a lack of face and body scrub products.
And so the 26-year-old – who has a background in digital marketing – started working around the clock from her garage with nothing but a laptop and a label printer.
She explained how the idea to create her beauty brand sprung to mind after she was inspired by the traditional bathing rituals in Asia.

Made with 100% viscose, the glove promises to remove dead skin, dirt and fake tan in just minutes, leaving skin smooth after one use
‘My family and I are from Harbin, which is in Northern China. It’s a tradition there to go to bathhouses and get full body scrubs done,’ Xixi told Daily Mail Australia.
When the family immigrated to Australia when she was just two years old, Xixi said they continued the tradition of using exfoliating mitts in their bathing routines.
‘I’ve used exfoliating gloves like these my whole life, so I was shocked to find out that none of my friends had even seen anything like this,’ she explained.
‘And I have always struggled to find a good exfoliator that gave me the same results in Australia.
‘As someone who suffers from dry skin and keratosis pilaris, exfoliating mitts have been an absolute game-changer for me, and have really helped improve my skin’s appearance, and my confidence.’
When Xixi – who worked in the beauty industry for six years – found herself unemployed during the coronavirus pandemic, her brand CheekyGlo was born.
‘During covid, I was basically out of work, and with all the time I had, I rediscovered my love for these gloves and decided to create my own version,’ she said.

The gloves were sold out in one week after a TikTok video she uploaded went viral – as she tried to keep up with demand and fulfill orders.
‘The first few days of business were slow, and most of my orders came from friends. But one of our videos went viral on TikTok a few days after our launch, and that’s when sales really sky rocketed,’ she said.
‘I was honestly shocked. I didn’t expect it to take off the way it did. It was crazy… I could not believe the amount of sales that were coming in, one after the other.
‘We have since sold more than five months worth of inventory in the past month.’
Xixi said she went from having $0 to $20,000 in just one month.
The exfoliating gloves cost $31.95 each, while the silk version is selling for $55.95.
Made with 100 per cent viscose, the skincare product promises to remove dead skin, dirt and fake tan in just minutes, leaving skin smooth after one use.
Xixi claims the gloves provide a natural solution to target common skin issues such as dry flaky skin, ingrown hairs, keratosis pilaris, congestion, and removes fake tan
Xixi has just launched a silk glove for customers wanting a gentler product on their skin
‘The glove is a great natural alternative that doesn’t require any extra products to work – all you need to do is scrub your skin after soaking it in the shower,’ she said.
‘The unique fabric texture catches on to dead skin and dirt, rather than relying on harsh chemicals and beads.
‘The gloves create a visible skin peeling that gives customers instant satisfaction knowing that the product works naturally to remove all the impurities on their skin.’

For those wanting to start a business, Xixi said: ‘Know exactly where your consumers are, and target them with good quality content that shows them how your product can help solve their problem.
‘Being a small business owner is not as glamorous or easy as it seems, but at the end of the day, it’s all worth it when you get to make an impact on someone else’s life.’
