Becoming a mother is one of the most important dreams for many women and can represent a job challenge, being in the care of children, even forces millions of women to give up, situation that occurs mainly due to the lack of support in companies and the gender roles that still predominate in Mexican society.

The action of reducing, pausing or giving up work to attend to family life is known as “Mom Recession”, that affects both the lives of women by preventing them from having professional and personal growth, as well as the national economy, since the female labor force is crucial for the country’s growth.

Faced with this situation, many women resort to entrepreneurship to generate income and have better control of their time that allows them to be with their loved ones, although for many it represents another challenge for not having the experience in business.

Therefore, Chicco Mexico in collaboration with Victoria 147, launched the initiative #TogetherWeCan which seeks to support, stimulate and inspire those mothers who want to resume their professional projects and undertake the great ideas they have but do not know how to start.

“Today, many working moms are looking for flexible jobs that allow them to achieve this balance in which family life, personal and professional activities fit, and many of them even start with innovative projects”, indicates the call.

Data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography indicate that of the micro, small and medium-sized companies in Mexico, three out of 10 are led by women, what must be increased to have a better growth in all senses.

“In addition to economic income, the working life of women is important for their mental health since it is a space that allows them to explore their creativity, put themselves to the test with challenges different from the familiar ones, continue reaching goals and personal satisfaction”.

In this sense, 56% of mothers who only deal with their family life feel more overwhelmed, with a higher level of stress and pressure, while 49% believe that they may never fully recover their work life and it will take great effort to recover opportunities for the decisions they made in last.

The bases

To help the personal, mental and economic well-being of Mexican women, Chicco and Victoria 147 will train 20 mothers who have their entrepreneurial idea.

In six sessions, the entrepreneurs will learn to validate your idea and build your model of business, all from the hand of experts in the subject and sector in which they wish to venture with their businesses.

The call ends on November 16, and women can register by themselves or nominate others who know they have entrepreneurial projects. Registration will be on the Chicco portal.
