NBA fans watching Game 1 of the Heat-Celtics series on Wednesday night were met with an unexpected rejection from YouTube TV, as the streaming service crashed during the fourth quarter of the game.
With the Heat clinging onto a lead they built with a massive 46-25 third quarter, viewers started complaining online that there were problems with the broadcast.
Some saw an error message that read, ‘TNT is temporarily down.’
Others apparently were repeatedly shown the trailer for the ‘Little Mermaid’ remake.
Either way, YouTube acknowledged the issue at 10:43ET, saying their team was ‘working on a fix.’

But not all fans were able to watch as the YouTube TV stream crashed
The issue did not prove to be short-lived as the next update came at 12:22AM – well after Miami wrapped the 123-116 win up – and it wasn’t a positive one.
‘Sorry to let you know that you might also experience an issue when watching content on multiple channels via YTV – we’re really sorry about this & we’ll keep you posted as soon as we have an update,’ a message from the Team YouTube account read on Twitter.
And fans let the video streaming giant know that they were unhappy about missing the end of the game.
‘I’m a Celtics fan, I missed the last 4 minutes of the game, I only pay for YouTube TV because I want to be able to watch live sports,’ one said.
YouTube acknowledged the issue with the stream at 10:43ET, saying they were working to fix it
‘I need a refund for the entire month and for the next month as a sign of good will or I’m canceling the subscription and going back to cable.’
‘We’re all missing the game. But I tell you what, watching 10 minutes of that Little Mermaid trailer has me HYPED on that joint now,’ another joked.
At 4:27am ET, YouTube said that the issue had finally been resolved.
Game 2 between the Heat and the Celtics, which fans will hope to watch uninterrupted, will tip off Friday at 8:30 ET.
