The numbers are in for the highly-anticipated star-studded premiere of WWE’s Monday Night RAW on Netflix. The streamers first live show with the sports entertainment dynamo, kicked-off their 10-year partnership from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on January 6th.
According to to Netflix, Monday night’s opener with appearances by The Rock, John Cena, and the Undertaker plus key matchups featuring: CM Punk and Seth Rollins in the main event, and Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a “Tribal Combat Match” for the ula-fala, captured a worldwide audience on average of 4.9 million Live+1 viewers.
The premiere also averaged 2.6 million households (Live+SD) in the U.S., according to VideoAmp. That is 116% higher than RAW’s average 2024 U.S. audience of 1.2 million households, and higher than any other Monday Night RAW broadcast in the past five years. The event also more than doubled the key demo of 18-49 audience vs. last year.
It should be noted that the international audience numbers, do not yet include 92 countries where Netflix has yet to distribute its WWE content including: France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Philippines and South Korea.
In addition, the premiere generated 223 million WWE social views across all platforms on the day of RAW’s Netflix premiere. Those numbers were larger than any RAW episode of 2024.
The debut of RAW on Netflix from Los Angeles, also set a company record as the highest-grossing WWE arena event of all-time. Additionally, the event set a merchandise sales record, becoming the highest-grossing non-Premium Live Event of all-time.
Monday Night RAW previously ran on USA Networks until its final episode on December 30th. Notably, the ratings data can be a bit tricky, since while on cable, the metrics were coming from the Nielsen ratings. From the beginning of October 2024 through the end of December, RAW averaged approximately 1.65 million viewers per week, per their numbers.
Netflix reached an agreement with the WWE back in January of 2024, which is said to be worth $5 billion with an option for the streamer to extend for an additional 10 years or opt out after five.
