With the expectation of manufacturing around 120,000 concrete blocks per month, Grupo Trivasa will begin in Yucatan with the production of this product, which will be made with Resin8, which is an additive made from plastic waste not wanted.
This announcement is part of the CRDC Global alliance, a firm focused on concrete solutions or asphalt based on Resin8, with the company Trivasa, originally from Valladolid, Yucatán, and dedicated to the extraction, production and commercialization of construction materials.
“This alliance aims to contribute to the generation of a circular economy that will have a very positive impact on the region. These materials will go on sale in March of this year and during the first phase the vibro-pressed products will be marketed in Yucatán, Campeche, Quintana Roo and Tabasco”, explained Diana Colin, manager of Continuous Improvement, Quality and Innovation at Trivasa.
According to information provided to the media, Resin8 is an additive made from unwanted plastic waste through a proprietary process and which generates concrete blockswhich have different benefits compared to traditional materials, such as:
- Greater thermal insulation.
- Less weight.
- They do not require modification of production and/or construction processes to those currently used.
“We are delighted to offer this new product to the construction market in Mexico and we could not have found a better partner than Trivasa. Their commitment to raising industry standards is second to none and we look forward to expanding our partnership over time,” said María Laura Rojas, General Director of CRDC Mexico.
According to the information provided, the ecological blocks will be produced at Trivasa’s Xcitán plant in Valladolid, Yucatán, and will contain up to 5% of Resin8.
“We carried out several resistance and quality tests on the new blocks and the results were very satisfactory. This agreement will give us access to new markets and we are excited to continue on our path towards improving our environmental footprint,” said Jhosue Chávez Cortés, Trivasa’s Director of Business Development.
For the manager, taking advantage of plastic waste causes value to be generated for a new product, which helps protect the environment, so this production will serve to build close to 50 houses of social interest in Quintana Roo and Tabasco.
