The sensational start to the season of the Chicago Bulls may be threatened by the physical problems dragged by one of its main players. As reported by journalist Shams Charania, Zach LaVine suffers a small ligament tear in the thumb of his left hand.
At the moment, the guard is not expected to miss any game. LaVine himself has conveyed to the coaching staff his desire to keep playing and to adapt to the pain, in order to maintain the positive momentum of the Bulls, who did not start the season with a favorable 4-0 since 1996.
Maintaining his presence on the court without undergoing any surgical procedure will be possible as the hand with which he shoots to the basket has not been affected. To put it in perspective, Los Angeles Lakers player Talen Horton-Tucker underwent surgery to treat a similar injury earlier this month and a four-week recovery process was established.
Throughout these first four games, LaVine has averaged 25.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists with a 50% accuracy rate on field goals and 44.4% on triples. After beating Detroit, New Orleans and Toronto, the Bulls are facing a much more complicated schedule in the coming weeks, with matches against the Knicks, Jazz, Celtics, 76ers, Nets, Warriors, Lakers and Clippers.
