Egyptian club Zamalek announced Withdrawal of the honorary presidency from Mortada Mansour, club president Previous, andThe trio: Ahmed Fattouh, Mohamed Sobhi, and Mustafa El-Zenari were suspended for a month, with a percentage of each player’s annual contract value being deducted.
In a statement published by the club’s media center, the current board of directors decided to cancel the decision issued last April, appointing Mortada to the position of honorary president and allocating an office to him within the club.
Zamalek added – in its statement – that the administration decided to deduct 25% of the annual contract of the team’s full-back Ahmed Fattouh, and 20% of the annual contract of goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, in addition to 15% of the annual contract of the team’s defender Mustafa El-Zenari.
Zamalek confirmed the continuation of the decision to offer the trio for sale, in addition to informing the Egyptian Football Association and the Egyptian national team of the punishment imposed on the players.
Zamalek had announced at the beginning of this November that the trio had been offered for sale “due to committing violations and transgressions that require dealing with them in a decisive manner.”
The contracts of left-back Ahmed Fattouh and goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi with Zamalek expire in June next year, while the contract of defender Mustafa El-Zenari extends until 2026.
Zamalek dispensed with its coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, after the team’s results declined.
The Colombian coach took charge of coaching Zamalek last April, and won 8 of 17 league matches with the team.
Zamalek, which lost its last two league matches, ranks tenth in the competition with 8 points from 6 matches.
Zamalek reached the final of the Egypt Football Cup in the 2022-2023 season with a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Pyramids, which witnessed the brilliance of its goalkeeper Mohamed Awad after a 3-3 draw after regular and extra time last Wednesday.
