The minister explained that continuing the economic war on Iran would tarnish the image of the new American administration and make it not far from the policy of the previous administration.
Zarif stressed that “the nuclear agreement is the decision of the entire ruling system in Iran, and I do not think that the next Iranian government will oppose it, and that the nuclear agreement succeeded in ending the security consensus in the world against Iran, and ended Security Council sanctions, and achieved international recognition of Iran’s nuclear rights.”
Regarding negotiations between Tehran and Washington, Zarif said: “There is no consensus in Iran regarding negotiations between Iran and America, and entering into negotiations with it will not be a correct step … Washington’s return to the nuclear agreement does not need Iranian-American negotiations.”
Zarif added that Iran and America are ready for dialogue with the European Union’s foreign policy commissioner, Josep Borrell, and he can coordinate steps to return to the agreement as a coordinator in the joint committee emerging from the nuclear deal.
He added, “After coordinating steps, America can become a member in the nuclear agreement and can sit with it at the 5 + 1 table ..
