Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced that his country will be open to negotiations on reviving the Iranian nuclear deal, as soon as all the parties concerned begin to fulfill their obligations.
In an interview with “PRESS TV”, Zarif said: “US President Joe Biden has rejected the policy of his predecessor Donald Trump towards Iran with words, but he has so far followed the same measures in practice.”
He added, “Nothing has changed … Biden claims that Trump’s policy of maximum pressure on Tehran was a catastrophic failure, but in practice he is pursuing the same policy.”
And he considered that “the United States is addicted to sanctions, bullying and pressure, but this does not work with a country that has thousands of years old throughout history.”
“We had a global empire that lasted longer than the history of the United States,” he added.
“The Americans should open their eyes, evaluate the past discreetly, and realize that with this country only respect works,” Zarif said, adding that “the United States has not gained any influence against Iran through its illegal sanctions.”
“The restrictive measures helped Iran to diversify its economy away from dependence on oil,” Zarif said.
Zarif concluded by saying, “Trump left the nuclear agreement hoping that the government of Iran would collapse..Now Trump is gone and we are still here,” adding: “I think this is a good lesson … seven successive presidents of the United States have gone, each of whom wanted to get us out … and now They are all out of power, and we are still here. “
