Zelensky: Biden knows Ukraine better than Trump

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that US President-elect Joe Biden had close ties to Ukraine and that he knew the country better than current President Donald Trump.

“It seems to me that Joe Biden knows Ukraine better than the previous president … before his election he enjoyed close relations with Ukraine,” he added in his interview with the New York Times.

According to Zelensky, Biden “understands the Russians very well, as well as the difference between Ukraine and Russia and the Ukrainian mentality.”

Zelensky said after Biden’s election that “Ukraine is optimistic about the future of strategic partnership with the United States,” adding that “Ukraine and the United States have always cooperated in security, trade, investment, democracy and fighting corruption.”
