The unexpected news of Media Day has come from New Orleans. As in the rest of the franchises, players, coaches and managers have spoken about the season ahead. So far everything normal. The surprise came when David Griffin, vice president of the organization, revealed that Zion Williamson underwent surgery on his right foot during the current offseason.
“Zion is coming back from foot surgery he underwent at the beginning of the summer; well, the beginning of summer is not exact, more like the beginning of the offseason before the summer league. He had a fracture in his right foot that was surgically repaired. His schedule should get him on the court in time to start the regular season. That is our hope and our point of view, ”he says.
Although it is nothing serious since it is expected that no game will be missed, Griffin understands that hearing about a surgery can raise doubts about the player’s physical condition.
“We are very optimistic about what all of this looks like. Unfortunately, I know that you will take it as a very negative thing. It’s not really like that for us as we were dealing with it out of season. We feel very confident about where things are, ”he says.
If Griffin assures that there is no problem, then it will be. The question beyond Williamson being physically fit for the regular season is that physical setbacks do not end up leaving him. His debut in the NBA was already controversial as he could only play 24 games. Last year that changed and he played 61 of the 72 matches of regular season. We hope that the whole season can be healthy. The success of the Louisianans depends on it.
