DAY SESSION (1 p.m.)
Alexander Zverev (Europe) vs. Alex De Minaur (World)
Team Europe will rely on Laver Cup’s all-time points leader, Alexander Zverev, to extend their lead on Saturday. The German, currently ranked World No. 3, faces Team World’s Alex de Minaur. While Zverev holds a commanding 8-2 head-to-head advantage, De Minaur is in excellent form. This summer, the Australian captured his 10th career title in Washington, saving three championship points in the final, and followed up with quarterfinal appearances in Toronto and at the US Open.
Holger Rune (Europe) vs. Francisco Cerundolo (World)
Denmark’s Holger Rune makes his Laver Cup debut against Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina. Their only previous encounter was a memorable five-set thriller at the 2023 Roland Garros Round of 16, which Rune narrowly won. Cerundolo, the World No. 21, remains undefeated in his two prior Laver Cup singles matches. Rune noted the benefits of being on a team with the world’s best, saying, “I was watching [Carlos Alcaraz] practicing. That’s another privilege of playing this kind of event. You can learn from each other. Carlos is an amazing guy. It’s very cool to be on the same team and train with him.”
EVENING SESSION (7 p.m.)
Carlos Alcaraz (Europe) vs. Taylor Fritz (World)
The evening session features a primetime blockbuster between two of the sport’s most dynamic players: newly crowned World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz and the fifth-ranked Taylor Fritz. Alcaraz holds a perfect 3-0 record against the American, including a four-set victory in this summer’s Wimbledon semifinals. Fritz, who was recovering from an illness after his US Open quarterfinal run, is eager for the challenge. “This week, it’s never tough to get that competitive energy,” Fritz said. “I’m feeling refreshed, motivated. I knew that once I got on court here, all that would go away.”
Holger Rune/Casper Ruud (Europe) vs. Alex de Minaur/Alex Michelsen (World)
Saturday’s action concludes with a pivotal doubles match. Alex de Minaur and Alex Michelsen of Team World will face the Scandinavian pairing of Holger Rune and Casper Ruud. Ruud, a Norwegian making his fifth consecutive Laver Cup appearance, already secured a singles point for Team Europe on Friday with a straight-sets victory.
