New York Giants defensive back Dane Belton has received a $7,201 fine from the NFL for an illegal trip on Christian McCaffrey during the teams’ Week 10 game. Belton was penalized for the infraction during the contest, with the league adding the financial penalty nearly a week later.
The play was a minor event in what was a dominant, record-setting performance for McCaffrey in the San Francisco 49ers’ 34-24 victory. The star running back recorded 106 rushing yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, complemented by 67 yards and another touchdown on five receptions. The performance marked his 16th career game with both a rushing and a receiving touchdown, establishing a new league record and surpassing Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.
The victory advanced the 49ers to a 6-3 season record. Belton, a former fourth-round pick, is in the final year of a four-year, $4.44 million contract with the Giants.
Next, McCaffrey and the 49ers will take on the Los Angeles Rams, while the Giants prepare to face the Chicago Bears.
