As a cold front moves into the Tampa Bay area, several counties are opening shelters to provide warmth and safety for residents. A Freeze Warning is in effect for Citrus and inland Hernando counties, where temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s overnight.
In the greater Tampa Bay region, lows will be in the mid-30s to low 40s, with wind chills on Tuesday morning making it feel as cold as the mid-20s. Record low temperatures are possible.
The following cold weather shelters will be available:
CITRUS COUNTY
A shelter will be open Monday night from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. at 5113 South Suncoast Boulevard in Homosassa.
HERNANDO COUNTY
The city of Brooksville will operate a warming center from 8 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Brooksville Enrichment Center, located at 800 John Gary Grubbs Boulevard.
PASCO COUNTY
Shelters will be open Monday and Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. until 10 a.m. the following day.

POLK COUNTY
Talbot House Ministries of Lakeland will operate as a cold shelter, remaining open 24/7. The organization is requesting donations of food, pantry staples, warm clothing, and financial support. For more information, visit TalbotHouse.org.
PINELLAS COUNTY
Shelters will be open from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. All locations provide a warm place to sleep, and many also serve a meal. For additional details, visit pinellashomeless.org/coldnightshelters. Families in need of shelter should call 211 for referrals.

MANATEE COUNTY
The Salvation Army, located at 1204 14th Street West in Bradenton, will serve as an emergency shelter. Intake is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. nightly, or until capacity is reached. Guests must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a parent/guardian. Women and families must depart by 6 a.m., and men must depart by 7 a.m.
Manatee County residents receive seven free nights of shelter, while non-residents with a state-issued ID receive three. After free nights are used, a fee of $15 per night applies.
Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) will provide free transportation to the shelter starting at 5 p.m. from the following pickup locations:
