The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Hudson, Essex, and Union counties, effective from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the advisory, minor flooding is expected, with one to two feet of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. The flooding is likely to impact low-lying properties, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements.
Residents are advised to take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, motorists should allow extra time for potential road closures and are urged not to drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
