Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Have professionals’ priorities in Egypt changed in the past year? What are the main advantages of a perfect job for them? What are their main goals for 2021?
A survey entitled “Career Aspirations in the Middle East and North Africa” was recently conducted. It revealed several aspects related to the professional and personal aspirations of professionals in Egypt for the new year, as well as their views on the employment reality and the work environment in general.
The survey revealed that 74% of professionals in Egypt have positive expectations towards the coming year, while only 7% expressed negative expectations, and the rest of the respondents were neutral about that.
Impressions of professionals in Egypt
The majority of respondents in Egypt (73%) agreed that salary and benefits are the most important benefits of an ideal job, along with career growth opportunities (45%) and are followed by personal and professional life balance (33%).
The things that drive professionals to look for work in the country are the desire for continuous learning and gaining experience (according to 67% of the respondents), followed by making money (66%) and improving society (48%).
Interestingly, 57% of survey respondents would prefer to work for a company, while 27% would prefer to be self-employed. Regarding their preferred sectors, professionals in Egypt stated that they prefer working in the banking, finance and accounting sectors (13%).
Career goals and career advancement
In terms of future visions, 60% of respondents believe they are qualified to fill higher job positions, while 43% say they are willing to move to another department or area of expertise to further their career. On the other hand, more than 42% of the respondents stated that they would be willing to move into a completely different career sector for the sake of career development.
The survey also addressed the career aspirations of people in Egypt, as they indicated that they have set several career goals for themselves, most notably getting a higher salary (60%), learning new skills (52%) and finding a new job (49%).
Personal goals
The most important personal goals for professionals in 2021 were to save more money (63%), travel (36%), purchase real estate (32%), exercise regularly (29%), and spend more time with family (28%). ).
Passion for work
Speaking of levels of enthusiasm and passion towards work, nearly half of the respondents (48%) in Egypt said they feel motivated at work, while only 16% said the workplace does not motivate them at all, while the rest of the respondents were neutral.
The availability of mentors and mentors is linked to the promotion of motivational factors at work, which was clearly reflected in the results, with more than half of the respondents reporting that they had either a mentor or a role model in their careers (53%).
When asked about the factors that motivate them in the workplace, more than half (64%) chose benefits and a higher salary, in addition to having opportunities to express their creativity (49%), and promotion to a higher level (47%).
