The “Telegraph” newspaper reported that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson summoned senior ministers on Friday evening to discuss ways to contain a new strain of Corona virus, which is described as more dangerous.
The newspaper added that it is possible to tighten anti-virus restrictions from Saturday, indicating that the new measures may include restrictions on movement and travel between southeast England, including the capital, London, and the rest of the country.
The newspaper also mentioned that government officials expect the approval of a vaccine to prevent Covid-19, developed by “AstraZeneca” and the University of Oxford, on December 28 or 29, which may contribute to accelerating the vaccination campaign.
Johnson said Friday he hoped England would avoid imposing lockdowns for the third time after Christmas.
