Damietta Port Authority succeeded in rescuing the container ship “xpress Nile”, which suffered a sudden malfunction in its main engines, about 8 nautical miles from Damietta Port in northeastern Egypt.
The Egyptian ship, which has a length of 133 meters, issued a distress because it was unable to sail and reach the port.
The Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel, directed the minister to “urgently respond to the ship’s relief and direct the port’s locomotives to rescue it and its diameter to the port berths, in order to preserve the safety of the lives of the operating crew in the first place, and the safety of the ship and the containers transported on it.”
Egyptian media said, “The Port Authority has pushed two tugboats and a pilot boat led by the chief guide of the port. The ship was successfully and safely towed to berth No. 6 in preparation for unloading the ship’s cargo in preparation for the start of the repair process for its engines.”
