A survey conducted by the American Gaming Association (AGA) showed that 20.5 million American adults, or 8% of the population, plan to bet a total of $1.8 billion on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The survey, which took a sample A national survey of 2,213 adults and conducted online by Morning Consult on behalf of the AGA found that 29% of US adults planning to watch the World Cup intend to bet on the tournament.
Also, some 9.8 million people (48%) plan to place a bet online, compared to 4.7 million (23%) who do so at a physical bookmaker and 4.1 million (20%) with a bookmaker. Additionally, 6 million (29%) are ready to make a casual bet with a friend and 3.5 million (17%) plan to make a bet as part of a paid pool or fantasy contest.
