The FIFA opened this Wednesday a disciplinary file against the Mexican Football Federation for “offensive” chants from some of their fans during the debut of “Tri” in the World Cup in Qatar against Poland.
It is the second such measure taken by FIFA after the one applied against Ecuador on Tuesday.
The governing body did not specify what the songs of the Mexican fans during Tuesday’s game against which it will act.
The measure, he pointed out, is based on article 13 of its Disciplinary Code, which punishes the fact of “offending the dignity or integrity of a country, person or group with derogatory, discriminatory or insulting words.”
FIFA punishes such an infraction with a “ten-match suspension” when it involves a player or an official, and with a fine of “at least 20,000 Swiss francs” (about 20,400 euros) and a match partially closed to the public when it involves of a federation.
In its world premiere for the Group CMexico drew 0-0 against Poland in a match in which their goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa he saved a penalty to the star Robert Lewandowski.
