There will be no obstacles to the production of electric cars, AMLO tells BMW

Upon witnessing the investment announcement of the BMW Group for 865 million dollars for the expansion of the plant in San Luis Potosí and the construction of the manufacturing center for electric car batteries, the Chief Executive admitted that the day will come when cars that do not use renewable energy will be sold.

He added that this transition is part of the global agreements to curb the problems of climate change that are demanding that fossil fuels are no longer used for production, the future lies in renewable energy.

AMLO congratulated the German automaker for starting the new phase of manufacturing electric cars and “thank you very much for the trust and the investment that we are talking about 1,000 million dollars and the generation of jobs… It is an industry that pays fair wages and benefits to their workers,” he added.

President López Obrador promised that BMW will not have any problems with its production, and being friends with the SLP governor, Ricardo Gallardo, is an important piece to increase foreign direct investment.

On his occasion, Harald Gottsche, CEO of the BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí, highlighted that it will be the first premium automaker to produce batteries and electric cars in Latin America.
