AMLO assures that there will be more National Guard barracks in the country

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of Mexico, explained that currently 280 have been built National Guard barracks Of the 500 that were planned to be built throughout the country, he assured that the deployment of the National Guard is in areas where there is no presence of authorities and reported that there is a plan to have more elements of the armed forces deployed.

“280 have already been completed, which are located in the different regions of the country, but we are going to reach 500 barracks. This will continue to help, because the presence of the National Guard in the country has already allowed us to move forward and confront illegal acts of all kinds. We will continue with that goal.”

He assured that the organized crime gangs do not want the National Guard headquarters to be established, and announced that “there is resistance, threats at times – that they will not allow us to occupy a property – but in the end, the installation of a barracks”.

On the other hand, he assured that the security strategy is to reinforce with more elements of the armed forces and barracks. He showed that in Guerrero there are 10,929 operational elements of the Army, the Navy and the National Guard, deployed in the entity; which represents more than double the 5,067 municipal and state police officers deployed in the state.

He explained that “the strategy of the National Guard has a lot to do with the territorial occupation of regions of the country where there is no presence of the authorities, only the Municipal Police and, in some cases, the state police.”

He also pointed out that the elements of the National Guard are not exposed to the pressures and threats that exist in different regions of the Mexican Republic and that are suffered by the personnel of the Municipal Police; this is because the national guards have a rotation system, so they are not easily intimidated.

“The maximum of silver or lead cannot be applied to them, that is why the importance of National Guard and that is what we defend,” said López Obrador.

He insisted that there will be no region where organized crime reigns or dominates at all.
