The Will County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order for Frankfort Square and nearby areas early Monday morning during a search for multiple suspects. The order was prompted by a police pursuit that ended in a crash, after which five men fled the scene on foot.
The search is concentrated in the area of Harlem Avenue and Vollmer Road. Residents were advised to remain in their homes with their doors locked due to an active law enforcement presence.
According to alerts from the Village of Tinley Park, authorities are searching for the suspects, who were reportedly wearing all-black clothing and may be armed with handguns. The manhunt involves several agencies, including the Matteson and Frankfort police departments.
By 6:50 a.m., officials confirmed that one of the five suspects had been taken into custody. Four individuals remain at large. The significant police activity in the area is expected to cause backups and delays for morning commuters.
