Atlanta-born singer-songwriter Mariah the Scientist has announced a 36-city world tour in support of her latest album, Hearts Sold Separately. The tour will begin in Paris on January 12, followed by stops in the U.K. and the Netherlands, before moving to North America and concluding in her hometown of Atlanta next April. This announcement comes on the heels of her 40-city To Be Eaten Alive tour last year.
The new tour is named after her recent album, which achieved career-high chart positions for the artist, debuting at Number One on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart and Number 11 on the Billboard 200.
In a recent interview, Mariah the Scientist explained that the album was a direct response to modern perceptions of romance. “The climate of the world made me want to make a whole project about love,” she said. “I feel like nobody prioritizes love. Everybody looks at love like it’s a problem. I feel like back in the day, it wasn’t like that.”
She elaborated on this theme, stating, “There’s this long-standing war between men and women and I don’t know what that’s about. The more men and women I meet, I realize even though we are all human, there are huge fundamental differences that you don’t really acknowledge when you’re younger. I just feel like I’m Eve and I fucked around and bit the apple or something. Now I see everything totally different than what I thought it was. That was the catalyst of everything I wrote.”
