The Cleveland Browns have acquired offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans in exchange for a swap of late-round draft picks in 2027.
The trade addresses a critical need for Cleveland after starting tackle Dawand Jones suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3. Jones underwent surgery last week to repair a torn LCL and a hamstring avulsion.
Robinson, 29, signed a one-year contract with the Texans in March. After starting one of the team’s first three games, he was inactive for Houston’s Week 4 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
This marks the second consecutive year Robinson has been traded mid-season to replace an injured starter. In Week 9 last season, the Minnesota Vikings acquired him from the Jacksonville Jaguars following an injury to left tackle Christian Darrisaw. Robinson started for the Vikings just five days later and went on to make 11 total starts, including the postseason.
A second-round pick by the Jaguars in 2017, Robinson spent the first seven and a half years of his career in Jacksonville. His availability has been inconsistent, with injuries and a four-game suspension in 2023 for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy causing him to miss time in all but two seasons (2020 and 2024).
